Talk gardening with Larry

MSU Extension brown-bag lunch gardening series - "Talk gardening with Larry"
Beginning in October, Michigan State University Extension Educator Larry Dyer will host an informational series, "Talk gardening with Larry". This will be a brown bag series on the second Friday of each month (except December) from 12:00-12:50 p.m., in room 110 Mikanuk on the campus of Bay Mills Community College. Each date will have a topic with handouts, but after a brief presentation the conversation can go to whatever people have on their minds and in their gardens. So bring your brown bag lunch and come “talk gardening with Larry”.

Jan 14 – Planning your garden
Feb 11 – Deciding what seed to order (bring your favorite catalogs)
Mar 11 – Starting your own seeds
Apr 8 – back yard composting
May 13 – planning for seed saving
Jun 10 – weed management
Jul 8 – insect and disease management
Aug 12 – seed saving

Flu Clinics planned

    BAY MILLS — Community Health Department announces its schedule of 2010 flu season clinics. Please mark your calendars.
    Participants are asked to wear short sleeve shirts. Flu vaccine should be given to children over the age of six months to 18 years, and any person age 50 and over.
    Also in need of flu vaccine are persons living in crowded conditions, those with chronic health care problems, weakened immune systems, or with muscle or nerve disorders as well as their caregivers to ...

Spaghetti Fundraiser planned for Perron Family

August 6, 2010
The community will hold a spaghetti fundraiser on Aug. 19 at the Armella Parker Senior Center for the family of Karson Perron. Karson was born on Aug. 3 and was transported to Marquette General Hospital with complications from pneumonia. He is the son of Jamie and Kalvin Perron. Jamie works at Bay Mills Dental Clinic and Kalvin is an officer with Bay Mills Police Department. All funds raised will go towards helping the family in their time of need.
