BAY MILLS — Jeffrey Parker has been elected Bay Mills Chairman with 41 percent of the vote, while Allyn Cameron was re-elected as vice chairman. Diane Teeple was voted in as treasurer, Greg Parker as secretary and Alexander Easton as councilperson.
Ballots cast Bay Mills Indian Community's general election, held Nov. 5, numbered 538.
The former tribal chairman challenged incumbent L. John Lufkins to regain the elected office, winning it 223 to 183. Write-in candidate Kurt Perron ran hard, garnering 22 percent of the vote with 119 votes.
In the vice chairman race, incumbent Allyn Cameron fended off contender Dave Menominee by 18 votes, 274 to 256.
Leah Jahnke and Diane L. Teeple competed for the open seat of treasurer, Teeple taking the seat by a healthy margin, 296 to 224.
For the office of secretary, Greg Parker's challenge won over the incumbency of Secretary Terry Carrick in a tight race, 239 to 228. Write-in candidate Norma Bennett managed 49 votes.
In the biggest win of the day, over 67 percent of voters chose newcomer Alexander Easton as councilperson over Vicki Newland, 363 to 156.
Julie Timmer won her bid for Appellate Judge against Joann LeBlanc, 302 to 217.
Coming out on top in the school board race were Wanda Perron, Michelle Carrick and Aaron Wayne Tadgerson.
New Conservation Committee members voted in were Tony LeBlanc, Timothy G. Kinney, Donald Tadgerson and Rich Parrish.
