Community gets new council; voters return only one incumbent

BAY MILLS — Jeffrey Parker has been elected Bay Mills Chairman with 41 percent of the vote, while Allyn Cameron was re-elected as vice chairman. Diane Teeple was voted in as treasurer, Greg Parker as secretary and Alexander Easton as councilperson.

Ballots cast Bay Mills Indian Community's general election, held Nov. 5, numbered 538.

The former tribal chairman challenged incumbent L. John Lufkins to regain the elected office, winning it 223 to 183. Write-in candidate Kurt Perron ran hard, garnering 22 percent of the vote with 119 votes.

In the vice chairman race, incumbent Allyn Cameron fended off contender Dave Menominee by 18 votes, 274 to 256.
