Community gets new council; voters return only one incumbent

BAY MILLS — Jeffrey Parker has been elected Bay Mills Chairman with 41 percent of the vote, while Allyn Cameron was re-elected as vice chairman. Diane Teeple was voted in as treasurer, Greg Parker as secretary and Alexander Easton as councilperson. [more]

Veteran's Day celebrated at Bay Mills

Bay Mills Indian Community held its annual Veteran's Day ceremony at the tribe's cultural center. Hosted by the Bay Mills Pow Wow Committee, the ceremony commenced at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. [more]



Credit Union opens mini branch at college

Bay Mills residents will no longer have to drive to Brimley to do their banking. For those who belong to the Soo Coop Credit Union, its Brimley branch has opened a mini-branch at the Bay Mills Community College, open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. [more]



MPSC kicks off “Be Winter Wise” campaign

On Oct. 29, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) held the kickoff of its “Be Winter Wise” campaign. The campaign designed to do three things: increase public awareness about higher prices; provide practical suggestions on how to reduce bills; and publicize the financial assistance programs. Safety belt use has risen to a record high in Michigan, and law enforcement officers throughout the state intend to keep it that way. [more]
