The Brimley Area Schools Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has announced the class of 2003 inductees.
William “Corky” Parish played Varsity Basketball for the Bay from 1964-1967 and was known for his prolific scoring and ball handling skills.
After graduation, he began coaching elementary basketball in 1968. His tenure of 35 years and counting is a Brimley school record.
During his career, he has coached literally hundreds of aspiring athletes in the fundementals of basketball. On two seperate occasions, his team went undefeated six consecutive years.
Dan Schwiderson lettered in football, basketball and baseball during his high school career.
He served as Elementary and Junior High Boys Basketball coach as well as Junior High Girls Basketball coach from 1995 until his untimely death in 2001.
He also coached Winter Olympics and was also instrumental in the organization of the Brimley Colts football program, serving as a coach in 2000.
He is remembered for his encouraging words, love of competition and positive outlook on life.
Induction ceremonies will take place during the Fall Athletic Banquet to be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Brimley High School. Tickets can be purchased at the School Administration office.
Also, on Dec. 5, “Meet the Bays” will be held in the Brimley High School gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
This will be an opportunity for the public to meet the 2003-2004 Junior High, JV and Varsity Boys Basketball teams.
