Tribal Fisheries Biologist Paul Ripple asked for a temporary fisheries aide and that a technology and engineering service conduct a survey on a tribal natural resources boat. The council put off the position request but approved the survey request.

The council reconvened after lunch to hear a presentation by a pharmaceutical company. IPS Vice President of Sales Jim Wallis, was accompanied by Native American Business Alliance (NABA) staff, Florinda Gamboa and Joe Gamboa NABA is located in Bingham Farms, near Detroit.

Wallis presented numerous possibilities for the Bay Mills Indian Community, which is in a unique position as a tribal government, he said. He offered to help the tribe into the pharmaceutical business — from furnishing its own pharmacy for a cost savings, to becoming a third party administrator with a facility of its own for profit and employment opportunities. The council listened with interest and accepted information from both the IPS VP and the NABA representatives. IPS invited the council to its Avon Lake, Ohio, facility and NABA to future conferences and networking opportunities.
