Marcell LeBlanc captured 200-pound Class B State Champion-ship while James Perry took the 115-pound Class C State Title at the May 15-16 at the Michigan Junior Olympic State Championship Tournament, in Pontiac, Mich.
The Boys and Girls Club of Bay Mills concluded the season for the Bay Mills Boxing Club 2003-04 with the state Junior Olympic competition. Bay Mills boxers, Amanda Tadgerson, Billy Bernier, Jade LeBlanc, and Cole Tadgerson were unopposed in their respective class. Club members finishing silver in the Class C action were Kevin Tadgerson, Jacob Perry, and Joe Perry. Kyle Tadgerson won silver in Class B action.
The Boys and Girls Club of Bay Mills thanks Dan Tadgerson and Dave Bernier for volunteering their time to coach and mentor the club this season. “Both coaches are tremendous role models and we are privileged and proud to have such high caliber individuals working with the youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Bay Mills Boxing Program,” said Aaron Tadgerson.
Dan Tadgerson has coached for the past five years and Bernier just finished his third. A special thank goes to the parents for driving their child to and from practice and staying involved. All the kids on the team count on their parents to be there and have grown to trust they will be.
The Boxing Program reinforces the mission of the Boys and Girls Club of America, which is to “inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, caring, citizens.”
“We had a tremendous year!” said Aaron Tadgerson. “The kids did well and have accomplished much both in the ring and out. They are all winners for never quitting. They are all champions for always challenging themselves and learning from their experiences.”
