Charter School students get creative with stories

Mrs. Rowell's Kindergarten class at Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter School is studying clothes and the Renaissance for their Paragon (Social Studies) unit. They are also studying fairy tales for Language Arts. After discussing kings and queens of the Renaissance, the students made up their own short fairy tale about a queen. [more]



Brimley book distribution promotes reading

Students geared up for another round of book distribution as part of the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program at Brimley Elementary School on Friday, Feb. 3. RIF takes place three times a year, and students look forward to receiving their own books. [more]



Kids dance the day away

All they want to do is dance! — First grade students at Brimley Elementary School were given the opportunity to practice what they had been reading about at a dance party held on the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 4. Teachers Kelly Hoffman and Pam Ellis provided the music, with such songs as YMCA, Locomotion and the Chicken Dance for the kids to show off their moves. [more]



Becvar named “Helpful Teacher”

In an effort to recognize outstanding contributions made by teaching staff, Sault Area Schools chooses a teacher of the month. This is not a competition among teachers but recognition of the many positive aspects of teaching demonstrated by our staff. This month the honor goes to Karen Beaver as Helpful Teacher of the Month for February 2005. [more]



Indian Health Careers Program accepting applications

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is now accepting applications for its 2005 Headlands Indian Health Careers Program, to be held June 5 through July 30, on the OU Norman campus. [more]



Native workshop accepting student applications

Michigan Technological University's (MTU) American Indian Workshop is now accepting applications for the summer program. [more]
