Barber wins 2005 Hugo Award



Pauline Barber of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians (GTB) was awarded the Bay Mills Community College Frank Victor Hugo Award at the 11th annual Anishinabe Language Conference held at Sault Ste. Marie's Kewadin Casino on Friday, April 1.

Barber, selected by her peers for the award, was chosen because of her dedication to speaking, learning and preserving the Ojibwe language. [more]

OCS competes in robotics competition

A team of five Ojibwe Charter School 7th and 8th grade students competed in the First Lego League's (FLL) “No Limits/Spring Fling” Competition at Lake Superior State University on March 19. Although the OCS Eagles Robotic Team came in eighth place in the three-round competition between the other schools from the Intermediate School District (ISD), OCS Science teacher Timothy Fillmore said he was very proud of his team and the way they worked together on the project.
