Students succeed at Regional Science Fair

The top three winners from grades three to eight at Brimley's District Science Fair competed in the third annual Regional Science Fair at Lake Superior State University on March 23. Students from schools throughout the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District (EUPISD) gathered to compete. Brimley students held their ground, garnering half a dozen ribbons. [more]



OCS Board of Directors discusses high school curriculum

The Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter School Board of Directors met Monday, March 21, for a regularly scheduled board meeting. Board members Anne Belleau and Michelle Carrick were absent. [more]



Brimley Area Schools announce spending cuts

In an attempt to curb the deficit at Brimley Schools, board members voted in favor of a plan to reduce expenditures by $649,000 for the 2005-2006 school year at their regular meeting on March 21. [more]



LSSU Diversity Center fights relocation

Students at Lake Superior State University are up in arms about the university's proposal to relocate the Student Diversity Office, currently home to the Native American Center (NAC), Student Organization for Diversity (SOFD) and Diversity Committee. [more]



Summer television and film workshop planned for Native students

The ABC Entertainment Talent Development Department and the Walt Disney Company, working in partnership with the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA), are launching the second year of the Summer Television and Film Workshop initiative for Native American writers, directors and actors who desire employment in the entertainment industry. The six-week program will take place in IAIA's new Library and Technology Center. [more]
