Brimley Booster Club raising cash for athletics program



BRIMLEY - Transportation costs for extracurricular activities recently got the axe when Brimley Area Schools slashed $680,000 from their budget for the 2005-2006 school year. Unless the Brimley Booster Club can raise the $14,000 it costs to bus athletes to away games each year, Brimley athletes may be the ones who will wind up paying in the end - literally.

BMEC gets new ambulance

BAY MILLS - Bay Mills Emergency Connection will be expanding their services to the community with the addition of a new ambulance. Previously, Kinross EMS had to be called in to the area when the lone BMEC ambulance was out on another call. According to BMEC Director Ruth Summerville, having a back-up ambulance will be a major benefit to the entire community. [more]


Boys and Girls Club fares well at Family Olympics

Boys and Girls Club fares well at Family OlympicsMT. PLEASANT - The Boys and Girls Club of Bay Mills took home 14 medals from the 18th Annual Michigan Indian Family Olympics, held in Mt. Pleasant on July 15. The Bay Mills Club, which consisted of five adults, six teens and eight youth, competed on Central Michigan University's Bennett Track in the sweltering July heat against representatives from other Michigan tribes. A record 628 tribal athletes competed in this year's event, besting last year's record of 518. [more]

Angela Coullard memorial scholarship established at LSSU

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - A community of family and friends have banded together to endow a scholarship fund in the memory of Angela May Coullard. The 14-year-old Sault Area High School student succumbed Feb. 24, to injuries she suffered in an auto accident. [more]
