BAY MILLS - The fifth annual Bay Mills Community Picnic and second annual National Kids day, sponsored by the Bay Mills Department of Recreation and Health Promotion and the Boys & Girls Club, was held Saturday, Aug. 13, and Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Bay Mills ball-field.

This year's community picnic featured games of dodge ball, kickball, horseshoes and bingo, with prizes including everything from everyday household items to camping equipment. Attendees feasted on roasted pig, turkey, hamburger and hotdogs. After dinner, Mel's Firework provided a fantastic fireworks display and Mark Bowen and his band "Hypnotik" provided musical entertainment.

Sponsoring this year's picnic were the Bay Mills Donations Committee, Kings Club Casino, Bay Mills Community College, Wild Bluff Golf Course, Mel's Fireworks and Bay Mills Resort and Casino. Volunteers and staff of the Recreation and Health Promotion Department, Boys and Girls Club, Bay Mills Maintenance, Hank Bowen, Kelly Shipman, Levi and Millie Carrick, Wade and Sharon Teeple, Edgar and Patty Teeple, and Nashoba Memegos all helped make this year's event a success.

This year's Mexican-themed National Kids Day celebration featured a day packed with events and prizes just for kids. Kids had the chance to play on the water trampoline, inflatable bouncer, dunk tank and participate in a three-legged race, water balloon toss and a variety of other games.

Staff from the Recreation and Health Promotion Department, as well as the Boys & Girls Club of Bay Mills, treated the kids and their parents to free tacos and hotdogs.
