BBGG, Sacy's and Wild Bluff named number one
BAY MILLS - The people have spoken. Readers of The Evening News, the daily newspaper of Sault Ste. Marie, recently named three Bay Mills Indian Community enterprises "Number One in the Tri-County Area."

Back Bay Grille & Games was chosen Best Lounge; Sacy's Restaurant selected Best Restaurant - Fast, Friendly Service; and Wild Bluff was named Best Golf Course.

BBGG has been in operation five years, winning for Best Restaurant- Fast, Friendly Service last year, according to Manager Evelyene LeBlanc. This year, that award was won by Sacy's Restaurant for the first time. In previous years, Sacy's was honored for Best Steaks.

Supervisors of the three enterprises cited teamwork and dedication as the reason for their number one status. John Hutchinson, director of hotel operations, credited the success of BBGG to the number of promotions this year, including NASCAR, NFL, employee nights and karaoke music.

Jason LeBlanc and Joy Parish, both customer service supervisors for Sacy's, said the new buffet, new menus, and remodeled kitchen and solarium resulted in increased customer satisfaction. Hutchinson added that the kitchen staff has done a great job keeping the buffet looking good and getting a la carte orders out quickly. They also help out if the serving staff gets overwhelmed. "We have good cooperation between front and back staff," he said.

Matt Phipps, assistant golf professional at Wild Bluff, said the course has a rating of four-and-one-half stars out of a possible five. Only one other Michigan golf course, located in Lansing, can make the same claim, said Hutchinson. Phipps said people love the new GPS program and credited John Holbertson, golf superintendent, with doing a great job of keeping the course in excellent shape. Hutchinson added that Rob Lussenhop, Wild Bluff's director of golf, and Mark Solberg, assistant general manager, have done a lot of detailing that has produced a better looking course.

Phipps said that the course has had a great summer. In every month of the season, Wild Bluff has done better than the same month last year. Hutchinson added that this year's Canadian Open was the best they've had yet.

The enterprises are grateful for the recognition, he said, and plan to continue working to the same high standards of dedication to customer satisfaction.

A list of the 35 parks, including Brimley State Park, that will have increased camping fees is available on the DNR Web site at www.michigan.gov/dnr under the Recreation and Camping section.
