Ojibwe Charter School students celebrate Fall Feast

Ojibwe Charter School students celebrate Fall FeastOCS FALL FEAST - The Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter School held their Fall Feast on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Waishkey Center gymnasium. Students and families enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment and traditional foods in honor of the autumn season. In traditional Ojibwe fashion, OCS will host a feast in honor of each season.

Many students dressed in regalia to dance at the event. Above, shawl dancer Jorja Carrick makes her way across the floor.

Traditional foods, such as venison, corn, wild rice and fried bread, were served pot-luck style to participants. Terry Carrick (at right) enjoys the traditional meal.

The OCS fall feast featured Bay Mills PRIDE Drum and Dance group (below), that performed a number of honor songs at the event and provided drumming for dancing.
