Low Income Energy Assistance Program available
Low Income Energy Assistance is available. To apply you must bring all income-related documents for anyone over the age of 18 living in the household. Income includes wages, SSI, child support, FIA assistance, pension, unemployment, self-employment and GA assistance. Applications are being taken at the commodity food warehouse. If you receive assistance from the Family Independence Agency you must provide a denial letter from their office. The 2006 Inter-Tribal Council LIEAP income guidelines is as follows: one-person household - $21,404; two-person household - $27,990; three-person - $34,575; four-person -$41,161. Discount phone service available
Applications for the Lifeline Services discount phone service are available at the Bay Mills Commodities Distribution Building. Those eligible will receive $11.25 off their monthly phone bill and one-half, up to $30, off a new phone service start-up charge. You can qualify for Lifeline Services if you are not a dependent under 60 years-of-age on someone else's Federal Income Tax Return and your total monthly gross income is less than the following: family of one: $1,196; family of two: $1,603; family of three: $2,011; family of four: $2,418; family of five: $2,826; family of six: $3,233; family of seven: $3,641; family of eight: 4,048.

Auditions being held for upcoming production
The Sault Community Theater will be holding auditions for the play, "Little Women," written by John Ravold and directed by Theresa Zednicek at the Quality Inn on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information call Colleen at 906-632-0790, or visit www.saultcommunitytheater.org.

SCHEDULED EVENTS

Drama Club to perform
Brimley High School Drama Club will perform "Touched by an Angel" on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m., at the school gym. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students and seniors.

Pickford Arts & Crafts Fair nears
The 29th Annual Pickford Arts & Crafts Fair will be held on Main Street at the Town Hall on Friday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Ample parking is available and there will be a luncheon hosted by the Pickford FCCLA. Displays include candles, tole and oil painting, pottery, stained glass and weaving.

Dinner and a movie to be held
Bay Mills Indian Community women of all ages with children are invited to attend dinner and a movie on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. Lasagna, salad and garlic bread will be served along with a "chick flick." Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to Nicole Lothrop or Joann LeBlanc by Nov. 9, at 906-248-5527. Babysitters will be available on-site at the request of parents.

Rabies Clinic on Nov. 11
The Rabies Clinic will be held Friday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Waishkey Center garage. Vaccines will be administered by Dr. Cindy Anderson from the Animal Clinic. The event is sponsored by Inter Tribal Council and Bay Mills Indian Community is paying 40 percent of the cost of the vaccines. The cost to tribal members is as follows: $4.50 for rabies; and $4.80 each for canine parvo distemper, feline leukemia, and feline distemper. Payment can be made by cash or check.

Domestic violence support group meets weekly
A Christian based domestic violence support group is being held every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie. Child care is available. For more information contact Victim Advocate Joyce Siegal at 906-248-3204, ext. 3309.

WIC office at Bay Mills
The WIC office will be at the Armella B. Parker Senior Center on the fourth Thursday of each month. Call 635-3572 for an appointment.

After hours at Health Center announced
The Health Center is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Before or after business hours, or during holidays, please call 906-248-5527. A voice message will instruct you to call 911 if it is an emergency. If you want to leave a message, please do so after the tone and the receptionist will return your call. If you require health services after business hours, please go to War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie. There is also an urgent care center located on site at the hospital.

HEALTH PROMOTION CLASSES

Elders Exercise
Improving circulation, flexibility, and strength is important and possible regardless of age. Come join this safe and enjoyable exercise class. Elder Exercise is open to the public 50 and older at no cost. Classes for women are held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m., in the Waishkey Center Gym.

Men's Class
This new class for men began Monday, Sept. 26, and will be offered every Monday and Wednesday at 8 a.m., in the Waishkey Center Gym. For more information or to sign up for class, please contact John Krentz at Bay Mills Community College at 906-248-3354, ext. 4195.

Adult Water Exercise Class
This class will be held and Lake Superior State University every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6 to 6:50 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Transportation is provided. Elders can be picked up and dropped off at their home. We will depart from the Waishkey Center 45 minutes before class. Bay Mills elders and their spouses are free; there will be a $1 fee for each class attended by non-elders. Please note that we will not participate in either class if there is not enough interest! Classes run until Dec. 8.

Cultural Committee
The Cultural Committee meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., at the Bay Mills Cultural Lodge. Community welcome. In the event of foul weather, the committee will meet in the Bay Mills courtroom.
