Elders vote to cap utility payments at $300K

Due to the rising costs of elders' utility payments and the rising number of elders who are having their utilities paid for by the tribe, the Bay Mills Senior Council overwhelmingly voted to put a $300,000 cap on the amount elders would receive. [more]



New Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw arrives in Cheboygan

The new Mackinaw Coast Guard cutter arrived in Cheboygan on Saturday, Dec. 17, to a full dock of onlookers. [more]



Executive Council meets to discuss business

Teeple sentenced to eight years in prison for Lyons murder

United States Attorney Margaret M. Chiara announced that on Dec. 19, 28-year-old Thomas Donald Teeple, of Middletown, New York, was sentenced to eight years in prison for one count of Voluntary Manslaughter, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1112. [more]

Parking permits are now available for the newly built downtown parking structure, located at 545 Osborn Blvd., across from War Memorial Hospital. [more]

Hanna case may come before jury once again

Chippewa County Prosecutor Brian Peppler has asked the Attorney General's Office to appeal the decision of the U.S. District Court to re-try the Nathan Hanna case. [more]



DNR offers snowshoe building workshop for women

The Department of Natural Resources Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program was recently announced a snowshoe building class will be held at Twin Pine Lodge near Grayling, Jan. 27 to 29, that also features a guided snowshoe hike at Hartwick Pines State Park. [more]
