Pomeroy selected Sault Area Schools Helpful Teacher of the Month for January

Pomeroy selected Sault Area Schools Helpful Teacher of the Month for JanuaryIn an effort to recognize outstanding contributions made by teaching staff, Sault Area Schools presents a Helpful Teacher of the Month selection each month. This is not a competition among teachers but recognition of the positive aspects of teaching demonstrated by staff. Pam Pomeroy has been selected for the honor for the month of January.

Pomeroy was nominated for the award by her administrator, Tom Stabile. She started her career with Sault Area Public Schools in 1986 as a math teacher at Sault Junior High School and is now a Sault Area Middle School counselor, which she began in August of 2000.

Pomeroy is one who continually gives freely of her time and expertise whenever asked, according to her co-workers. She provides counseling services to 640 students at the Middle School. She projects a positive attitude and pleasant demeanor regardless of the circumstances and has an excellent rapport with the students who feel comfortable meeting and talking with her about their concerns. She also takes on a wide variety of other responsibilities and duties which include, but are not limited to, the District School Improvement Team, Regional MAMSE Representative, United Way of Chippewa County Board, EAG Advisory Group, as well as our Middle School Student Council Advisor for the last four years.

Pomeroy received her bachelor of science degree from Western Michigan University and her master's degree from Northern Michigan University..

In recognition for her many accomplishments, Pomeroy will receive a $25 gift certificate from sponsor, Parker Ace Hardware.
