Unca Bun recalls his time on board the USS New Mexico

The year was 1942. I was in Pearl Harbor waiting assignment to a naval ship on which I would serve for the next two years. While there, I had a few guard assignments as a temporary duty person at the Marine barracks. One of my assignments was kind of a fiasco for me and a headache for the corporal of the guard who had posted me at a strand of warehouses on the docks at Pearl Harbor. [more]
