LeBlanc and Mills named "Employee of the Year"

BAY MILLS - The Bay Mills Resort and Casinos, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, hosted its 5th Annual Employee Recognition Party on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Horizons Conference Center. At the event, Vault Cashier Rebecca Mills was named "2005 Employee of the Year" for the Kings Club Casino and Sacy's Supervisor Jason LeBlanc was named the "2005 Employee of the Year" for Bay Mills Resort and Casino. Mills and LeBlanc each received $1,500 and a trophy for their selection.

Candidates for "Employee of the Year" honors were nominated by either their managers, or fellow employees within the casinos. All nominations were submitted to the HR department, who put together employee profiles of each candidate. After candidate reviews were put together, HR Director Kendal Perron, along with BMRC GM Rod Jones, Assistant GM Mark Solberg, Director of Hotel Operations John Hutchinson, and Director of Marketing Connie Winkler madetheir final decisions based upon the employee's length of service, attendance, customer service, and all facets of their work performance. According to Perron, this year's selection was one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make.

"We had a very, very tough choice this year," Perron said. "We had many very good employees this year that were nominated and were deserving of this award. But we had to narrow our picks down and select two. LeBlanc and Mills are two employees definitely deserving of this award."

In addition to Employee of the Year honors, awards were also given to the 91 employees who had perfect attendance. Those with perfect attendance were given a free vacation day for each consecutive year they had zero absences or tardies and had their names placed in a drum for random cash drawings. The drawing winners for perfect attendance were the following - five years: Kevin Scheitler; four years: Darryl Cameron, Sr.; three years: Rebecca Mills; two years: Deb Jones; one year: Al Easton.
