BRIMLEY - A clutch shooting performance by Brad Cameron that included seven triples and 27 points, helped the Brimley Bays knock off their Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference rival Pickford Panthers 81 to 71 on Friday, Jan. 20. Cameron's three-point barrage helped the Bays overcome a 41-point performance by Panther phenom Matt Romatz. Romatz, who recently eclipsed the 1,000-point mark, notched his second 40-plus point game this season against the Bays. Travis Lynn and Cody Robbins proved they were prolific scorers as well, rounding out the bulk of the Bays scoring with a combined 35 points, dropping 20 and 15 points, respectively.
The Bays victory came on the heels of their heartbreaking 66-62 loss to the undefeated Cedarville Trojans, a game that they looked to be in control of most of the way, but gave up late. Although Pickford threatened to get back in the game late in the fourth quarter as well, the Bays managed to thwart their advances with their full-court press and clutch buckets by their big three - Cameron, Lynn and Robbins.
The Bays (3-1 EUPC, 6-4 overall) will look for redemption in their rematch against the state's Class D No. 4 ranked Cedarville Trojans when they host them on Friday, Jan. 27 at the Karl Parker Memorial Gymnasium.
