Drumheller selected as Helpful Teacher of the Month

Drumheller selected as Helpful Teacher of the MonthSAULT STE. MARIE - Sault School Administrators Diane and Ed Chevillot have nominated Mike Drumheller as Helpful Teacher of the Month. Drumheller began working for Sault Area Public Schools in 1969 and is currently teaching elementary music at Soo Township, Washington, and St. Mary's Schools.

Music instruction is much more than just singing songs for Drumheller's students, according to his fellow coworkers. He incorporates movement and dance regularly into his lessons along with having his students frequently work with various musical instruments. In addition to his regular classes, Drumheller plans and coordinates the annual Christmas programs for all of the buildings that he is currently assigned to. He works hard to help the students learn their songs and coordinates activities nicely with the teachers. His students do a wonderful job, and his programs are always standing room only affairs. The Christmas programs are a huge time and effort commitment so his administrators never require him to plan other activities, such as Grandparents Day. However, he regularly volunteers for this duty. Just like the Christmas program, he arranges musical selections for his students and helps the children practice and learn the songs for their performance.

He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, majoring in music education.

In recognition for his many accomplishments, Drumheller will receive a $25 gift certificate from sponsor, Parkers Ace Hardware.
