Mike Bertram Memorial Run to be held Feb. 25

In an effort to increase safety on the area snowmobile trails, the second annual Mike Bertram Memorial Fun Run will be held on Feb. 25, raising monies towards a better system of snowmobile trail marking.

"This way if there is an accident you will be able to identify where you are on the trail system,' said Josh Ware, event organizer. "A mile marker will be placed each mile along the trail."

The run is in memory of Sault resident Mike Bertram who was killed when his sled struck an unspecified object on Trail #8 on March 9, 2003.

The run will begin at Dondee Lanes in Sault Ste. Marie. Registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and wrap up at 7 p.m. with a spaghetti dinner, also at the Dondee Lanes. The run may be completed by car or snowmobile. Non-riders are welcome to attend at a cost of $10 per plate. The cost per person is $20. All money raised will go towards mile markers for the Chippewa County Trail System. Anyone seeking more information can call Josh Ware at 906-630-0833.
