Tribal member angered over treatement
I'm David Tadgerson and I would like to tell you some things about my tribe. For one, since I have been 17, I couldn't get a good job. The only thing I can be is a dishwasher, thanks to Stacy. I guess I have the wrong name to be anything else.
About three years ago I was walking back from a friend's house when two tribal members wrecked the Bay Mills Laundry and Linen sign when they were racing up the highway. Well, you would think that they would be fired over that, or the way the tribe does it, terminated. Nope. They got better jobs - they are slot attendants. Well, anyways, I guess they really knew somebody in the Recruiting Department.
Even the Tribal Chairman himself never has the time to talk to you. He is never in his office or he is too busy. And he is supposed to be a great leader. The only place he ever led me was out the door.
The hiring at Bay Mills is racial. I've seen it for several years. They are always saying that they take good care of our elders. Well, maybe they do, but shouldn't they build housing instead of a golf course?
Well, that's all for now, but I would like to thank some people who stood by me and supported me all the times when my tribe wouldn't. I would like to thank my sister Jen, her boyfriend Ron, Patty Parish for showing me how to hunt, and "Fudder" for always stopping and talking to me and my family.

Parrish gives thanks
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the following people who so generously gave up their time to help with the benefit Indian Taco sale for Don and Sandy Menominee. Thank you to Lorri Burtt, Angie and Richard Johnson, Sandy Kinney, Carol Lipponen, Robert and Richard Parrish, Princess Pine, Sherri Schofield, and Sara Tadgerson.
A special thanks to the Boys & Girls Club Staff: Ken Hopper, Sandy Walden, Kat Memegos, Brandon Kerfoot, Joan Jerman and Jeanne Bedell for allowing us to use the kitchen for this event. To Ron and Shirley Holden at Four Seasons: We are forever grateful for your kindness and for donating hamburger for our cause. You have always been so generous when we sponsor activities. We are humbled by your generosity and are fortunate that you have always been so supportive of our community.
All the food for this event was donated and very little money was spent for food. So a special thanks also to: Dawn LeBlanc, Saloma Skipper, Kings Club Casino and Brenda Carrick Bjork, Donelda Schofield, Sharon Teeple, Candy Allen, Cathy Malloy, Diane Kinney, Diane Teeple, Sandy Kinney, Walt Parish, and Lynda Parrish Pesola.
It took only 12 calls, my call to Ron Holden, and an $8 gift certificate from an unknown donor, and we had all the food donated that we needed.
Thanks to Father Al Mott and Father Ted Brodeur from Blessed Kateri and St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Sault and Pastor Lou Bergman of Living Word Church in Sault Ste. Marie for answering my call for help for Sandy so that she could stay with her husband in Traverse City.
I imagine some of you are wondering how I got involved. I received an e-mail from Marcia Menominee stating that Sandy was going to have to come home because she did not have the money to stay by her husband's bedside. It broke my heart to think she would have to leave her husband, an elderly tribal member, who was so ill. I could imagine myself in that situation. We never know when a situation might arise when we will need that same kind of help. Thanks for opening your hearts for Don and Sandy.
Thanks to all who donated money over and above the cost of the Indian Taco. We received a $52 cash donation, a $50 donation and a $25 and some donated $10, $5 without ever taking a taco. We raised $1,200 for Don and Sandy. What a great community we have! We all come together in time of need. Sandy is very grateful for your help. God Bless you all.

Looking for lost jacket
Recently we had a Senior Healthy Heart Bingo that took place on Feb. 15 at the Senior Center. While working at this event, I wore a blue and white Columbia jacket. Somehow, it was mistakenly taken from the Senior Center that day. This Columbia jacket is very expensive and also has a sentimental value to it because both my daughter and I spent the day shopping and decided it would be cool if we both wore identical jackets. If you have seen it or maybe accidentally thought it belonged to you or someone you know, could you please return it back to the Senior Center? It would be greatly appreciated!!!
Respectfully,
Nicole Lothrop
