BMCC's Director of Research receives the International Honor Award for work in Africa

BAY MILLS - It is no secret that Bay Mills Community College's Director of Research Dr. Michael Doyle is a well-traveled man; he'll tell you all about his past exploits. The man once sailed across the Pacific with another person in a Sexton sailboat just to "see what was out there" and to learn about navigation. As a plant scientist seeking rare and exotic plants, Doyle has traveled to such far-off places across the globe as Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and French Polynesia. He has mingled with Pygmies in the Congo, the "bungee jumpers" of the Vanuatu Islands and cannibals in Fiji. [more]



OCS students head out into the sugar bush
The Ojibwe Charter School 9th and 10th grade classes took a field trip to the Timmer family sugar bush to see how maple syrup is created. Each spring the Timmer family works late into the night to collect sap for their maple syrup business. [more]

Bay Mills Community College reports results of wind study

BRIMLEY - According to Bay Mills Community College Director of Research Dr. Michael Doyle, the results are in for the college's wind study, which took place throughout the winter months. Doyle said that based on the data he retrieved, the tribal property on M-221 does not have enough wind to power a large-scale generator. [more]
