The Chippewa County Democratic Party will be holding its annual spaghetti dinner and auction on Saturday. April 22 at the Christopher Columbus Hall, 201 Sheridan St., in Sault Ste. Marie.
The event will start with a social hour at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a program and auction.
The evening provides an opportunity for county Democrats to meet their elected local and state officials, as well as officers and members of the county party.
"We look forward to welcoming state and local elected officials, including State Representative Gary McDowell, members of the County Commission and other notables.", said Democratic Party Chair, Jerry Dobbertin. "Attendance will motivate everyone involved in local and state politics, as well as our township, county, and state level officials. We encourage local voters to use this opportunity to get to know our officials and County Party membership."
One of the special guests will be State Representative Gary McDowell.
"The Chippewa Dems spaghetti dinner is a great tradition that I'm looking forward to," McDowell said. "I hope everyone will come and enjoy the good food and the great company. It's bound to be a fantastic event."
Hosting the program this year will be County Commissioner Earl Kay as Master of Ceremonies. Auctioneering will be done by County Commissioner Ted Postula. The program will also include the announcement of the 2005 Chippewa County Democrat of the Year.
This year, bids may be made in both live and silent auction. Items include a variety of generous donations from state officials, including a State Seal autographed by Michigan House Democrats, a flag flown over the capitol, handmade quilts from local crafters, original art works, and gift certificates from area businesses.
