Students, along with a number of community members, packed the high school gymnasium for the event. Those in attendance participated in dances honoring veterans and the graduating class. In addition to dancing and an explanation of Native American culture, there were a variety of vendors offering up Indian tacos and crafts.

Drum groups from Bay Mills and Sault Tribe provided the music. Indian Education Coordinator Adel Easterday organized the event to raise awareness about the Native culture of the area. Brimley Area Schools' student body is currently comprised of more than 50 percent Natives.
