
HUD Awards BMIC $1.26 million in grants

As part of the Indian Housing Block Grant program, Bay Mills Indian Community has recently received $1.26 million in funding. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Midwest Regional Director Joseph P. Galvan and HUD Administrator for the Eastern/Woodlands Office of Native Americans Kevin Fitzgibbons were in Bay Mills on Friday, May 5 to present the tribe with two grant checks. [more]

On the night of April 20, Bay Mills Police Department K-9 Officer Paul Baragwanath told his fellow officer, Sgt. Phil Donnay, who was on his first night back to work after a long vacation, that they had identified several possible key suspects in the string of local breaking and entering complaints. [more]

Campground bark infestation to be studied

According to a recent press release from the Department of Natural Resources, the South Manistique Lake State Forest Campground will be temporarily closed so the department can address the severe infestation of beech bark disease and the hazards caused from dead and dying trees. [more]
