His first bird

His first bird

FARWELL, Mich. - Thirteen year-old Lynn Carrick shot his first turkey on Sunday, May 26 in Farwell, Mich. He called it in himself and at the same time there were eight other turkeys in the field. It was his first time calling wild turkeys and hunting them. He also called the eight other turkeys in himself. He shot the bird at 40 yards with a 12-gauge shotgun with a 3-inch mag. The bird ended up being 24 pounds with one-inch spurs and a 9 1/2 inch beard.

That weekend Little Lynn Carrick out shot his father Big Lynn Carrick. The reason is Lynn had to finish off a friend's bird. Big Lynn shot at the running bird about 15 feet away and missed! Then Little Lynn shot and dropped the bird. Later that day, Big Lynn yet again missed another "Tom" that was standing still! That weekend ended up being Mother's Day. Lynn says for Mother's Day he gave his mother the house to herself for the weekend!
