Friday, June 16
Pickford Quilt Show — There will be a Quilt Show by the Pickford Area Quilters, on Friday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a small donation fee of $3 at the door and lunch will be served. Saturday, June 17
Pink Ribbon Golf Classic — The 7th Annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic hosted by the Chippewa County Health Department at Tanglewood Marsh. Funds raised will be used for education, services and supports for those men and women who suffer from breast, cervical or colon cancer. The public is invited to enter their teams of four by calling the Chippewa County Health Department at 906-635-3630 or Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course at 906-635-7651.

Wednesday, June 21
Music in the Park — The Downtown Development Authority and the Soo Locks Visitors Association present the 2006 Music in the Park concert series. All shows start at 7 p.m. in the Soo Locks Park and are free and open to the public. Tonight's entertainment will be Chasin' Steel. Shows will continue throughout the summer each Wednesday until Labor Day.

Saturday, June 24
International Bridge Walk — Don't miss this chance to walk across the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie. Call the Chamber of Commerce for more information at 906-632-3301.

Thursday, June 29
Singer at Bayliss Library — Great Lake Maritime Folk Songs and Stories will be performed by Lee Murdock at Bayliss Public Library at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Friday, June 30
Engineer's Day — Engineer's Day at the Soo Locks when buildings will be open for public viewing. Visitors will be allowed to walk across the locked gates. Please call 906-632-3301 for more information.

Tuesday, July 4
Brimley 4th of July celebration — 4th of July celebration in Brimley will celebrate with a flea market, food vendors, craft items and a parade in the evening. There will also be inflatables for the children. Anyone interested in having a craft table should call Mary Jane at 906-632-6980.

Friday, July 14 - Sunday, July 16
Veteran's Motorcycle Rally — The American Legion Post #3 will be hosting the 3rd Veterans Motorcycle Rally. Events include a Fox hole run, 50/50 raffle, live music, games, vendors, food and beverage tent, and fun. Location of all events is at Brady Park on Portage Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie. Friday, July 14 - Saturday, July 15
Relay for Life — The Sault Area High School will celebrate with a "Yooper Mardi Gras" theme. For more information please call Roxanne at 906-635-9247 or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-469-0149.

Friday, July 29 - Saturday, July 30
River Rampage — The Sault Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 3rd River Rampage. Join them for fun in the sun that the whole family will enjoy. They will have crafts, food, entertainment and more. For more information please call the Chamber at 906-632-3301.

Tuesday, Aug. 1
Arts Festival — The 2006 Sault Area Summer Arts Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the Tendercare Nursing Home Headquarters. For more information please visit www.saultarts.org.

Friday, Aug. 4
Summerfest — Summerfest and EUP Senior Day will take place, hosted by the Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Downtown Business Association and Community Action Agency, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Friday, area seniors will be honored by providing free food and entertainment. On Friday and Saturday, Ashmun Street will be closed and arts and craft vendors will adorn the street with their products. Bands will play music, and visitors can enjoy beer and food tent provided by local merchants. Bring your children to play street games that are sponsored by area merchants. Friday, August 11 - Sunday, Aug.13
Sugar Island Festival — The Sugar Island Festival will include music, camping, vendors and fun activities for kids. Buttons for admission are $6 per person and are good for all three days. Camping reservations are encouraged. For more information call Debbie Fox at 906-635-3007.

Monday, Aug. 26 - Sunday, Sept. 3
Salmon Slam — The Sault Area Sportsman Club presents the 2006 Salmon Slam. This event will be from Monday, Aug. 26 starting at 6 a.m. and ending Sunday, Sept. 3 at noon, followed by an Awards Banquet at Bay Mills Resort & Casino at 3:30 p.m. Adults are $35 to enter and youths 12 and under are $8. Sunday, Aug. 27 - Monday, Sept. 4
Chippewa County Fair — The Chippewa County Fair features two buildings with commercial exhibits as well as many outdoor exhibits. For more information log onto www.chippewafair.com.
