ANNOUNCEMENTS

Community Quilters fundraiser
The Community Quilters will have a fundraising table at the annual 4th of July craft sale in the park on parade day in Brimley from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items sold, including quilts/comforters, Big Mac Bridge and lighthouse potholders, are handmade and unique.

Crafters, volunteers sought
The Bay Mills-Brimley Historical Society is seeking crafters for the 4th of July celebration at the Wheels of History Museum. Volunteers are also being sought for the day and bake sale contributions needed. Donations to the flea market, household items in useable condition (no furniture, appliances or clothing please) can be dropped off at Newland's garage on State Street. Items left at Senior Center
Anyone who has left bowls or dishes at the Armella B. Parker Senior Center must pick them up soon or they will be placed on the giveaway table.

Garage sale to be held
A five family garage sale will be held on Saturday, June 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, June 25, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 4354, 4610 and 4708 S. Bay Mills Point Road. Antique enamel kitchen range, unfinished desk, table and six chairs, three-wheeler, pontoon boat with trailer, household items and a lot of other nice miscellaneous items.

Animal shelter seeks donations
The Chippewa County Animal Shelter is in urgent need of the following items: cat litter (any brand, but please non-scoopable); kitten and cat food (dry, any brand); bleach; baking soda; litter boxes; litter box scoopers; dishwasher detergent; cat and dog treats; dog leashes (six feet or longer). Notice to tribal members
Effective June 1, 2006 those tribal members applying for General Assistance based on employability status will have their eligibility reduced from 90 days to 60 days with a 90 day intermittence between applications. This action is a requirement of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and is the result of nationwide cutbacks in welfare funding. The changes were approved by the Executive Council on April 24, 2006. Those current employable clients who applied before the above date will continue to receive benefits for 90 days until their length of eligibility has expired and compliance is maintained. SCHEDULED EVENTS

Golf scramble
The Brimley basketball benefit golf scramble will take place at The Oaks in Kincheloe, Mich. on Friday, June 23 at 4:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. Cost for a four-person team is $100 per team plus cart. There will be a 50/50 draw, hole specials, and a putting contest. Community Quilters to meet
The next meeting of the Community Quilters will be on Saturday, July 22 at the Waishkey Center. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend. The group makes quilts to be donated to local emergency service departments, needy individuals in the local community as well as the Bay Mills social services department. They are presently asking for donations of new cotton or flannel fabric, quilt batting, and a usable quilt frame. For more information contact Dotty at 906-437-4313.

Bayliss to host performance
Well-known Great Lakes singer Lee Murdock will be performing at Bayliss Library on Thursday, June 29 at 7 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public. Call 906-632-9331 for more information.

Beadwork class being held at Cultural Lodge
The Bay Mills Indian Community Gnoozhekaaning Cultural Program is holding a beadwork class each Monday at the Cultural Lodge from 6 to 9 p.m. Instructing the class will be Becky Munz. Everyone is welcome to join; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Lions Club hosting non-smoking bingo
Each Monday, the Lions Club will be hosting a non-smoking bingo at the Strongs Town Hall on M-28, three miles east of the Eckerman intersection, from 6:30 until 10:30 p.m. The kitchen will be open.

Chippewa County Democrats to meet
The next monthly meeting of the Chippewa County Democratic Party will be held at the Country Kitchen on Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. For more information contact Treasurer Paul Warrick at 906-495-7343.

WIC office at Bay Mills
The WIC office will be at the Armella B. Parker Senior Center on the fourth Thursday of each month. Call 635-3572 for an appointment.

Summer Clinics
The following clinics are scheduled for the summer months: Well Woman's Clinics on July 11 and August 22; Well Child Clinics on June 20, July 18, July 25, August 1, and August 8; Sports Clinics on June 15, June 22, June 29, July 13, July 20, July 27, August 3, and August 10. All clinics are held at the Bay Mills Health Center and will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wendy Jamros, CFNP, and Craig Caldwell, D.O., will be available. Call 906-248-5527 for an appointment.
