SAULT STE. MARIE - Alberta House announced in a press release that the following exhibits will appear in the arts center from June 3 to June 29: watercolor paintings by Kathleen Marshall will fill the Olive Craig Gallery, while "Road Trip," an exhibit of oil paintings by Meegan Flannery, will be on display in the Alberta House Mini Gallery.
Marshall was a teacher for 31 years before retiring from the Sault school system. Her painting focuses on flowers and landscapes. She has exhibited in Alberta House previously and she took an honorable mention in the juried exhibition, "Water Works," in the spring of 2003. She also participated in an exhibit entitled, "Between Friends," in November of 2003, and her work was in both the 2004 and 2005 Alberta House juried exhibitions.
Flannery, who lives in Marquette, Mich., takes a nostalgic look in her paintings at small towns of the Upper Peninsula after the boom years - empty buildings and the ghosts of the past. She received her art education at the Kendall College of Art and Design and Northern Michigan University. Her work has appeared in many juried exhibitions throughout the U.P.
Alberta House is located at 217 Ferris Street, one block west and half a block south of the Ramada Ojibway, just behind the Soo Locks. Admission is free. Call 906-635-1312 for more information.
