Watch out for illegal drug activity

Crime Stoppers is asking residents to keep their eyes open for marijuana grow operations. A marijuana grow operation is a house or outbuilding that has been modified in order to grow large amounts of marijuana.

Some signs that would indicate a potential grow operation include covered windows where bright light can be seen escaping from the windows, often covered with condensation, and electric meters which have been tampered with or bypassed to steal electricity for growing lights.

The theft of electricity affects the general public by increasing the costs for paying consumers. Bypassing a meter can also cause the ground to become electrically charged, making a dangerous situation for children in the neighborhood. Grow operations are especially dangerous for emergency responders who may encounter this electrically charged area and get injured or killed.

If you have any information on such a practice, please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-465-7867. If your tip leads to an arrest you could earn a cash reward.
