Community Quilters fundraiser
The Community Quilters will have a fundraising table at the annual 4th of July craft sale in the park on parade day in Brimley from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items sold, including quilts/comforters, Big Mac Bridge and lighthouse potholders, are handmade and unique.

Crafters, volunteers sought
The Bay Mills-Brimley Historical Society is seeking crafters for the 4th of July celebration at the Wheels of History Museum. Volunteers are also being sought for the day and bake sale contributions needed. Donations to the flea market, household items in useable condition (no furniture, appliances or clothing please) can be dropped off at Newland's garage on State Street. Animal shelter seeks donations
The Chippewa County Animal Shelter is in urgent need of the following items: cat litter (any brand, but please non-scoopable); kitten and cat food (dry, any brand); bleach; baking soda; litter boxes; litter box scoopers; dishwasher detergent; cat and dog treats; dog leashes (six feet or longer). SCHEDULED EVENTS

Movie night at the ball diamond
Community members are invited to attend movie night at the Bay Mills baseball diamond on June 30, July 14, July 28, Aug. 11, and Aug. 25. All movies are family-friendly and begin at dark. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and don't forget the bug spray. Concession will be available and movies will be cancelled if it rains.

American Legion hosting weekly fish fry
American Legion Post 393 in Hulbert will be hosting an all-you-can-eat fish fry every Friday this summer from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The last one will take place on Sept. 1. Whitefish dinners, salads and desserts will be served. The cost is $8 per adult, $4 for children 12 and under. The public is welcome to attend. The Hulbert Post is located six miles west of Eckerman corner (M-28 and M-123) on M-28, then one mile north.

Barbeque to be held July 1
American Legion Post 393 in Hulbert is hosting a chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. Salads and desserts will also be served. The cost is $8 per adult and $4 per child 12 and under.

Elders summer activities planned
The Department of Recreation and Health Promotion is looking for fun-seeking elders to join them in summer activities. The activities are open to the public ages 50 and older. Sign-up sheets are posted at the Waishkey Center or telephone Jeanne at 248-3241, ext. 3161 for more information.
Events already scheduled to take place are:
- Friday, June 30: Kinross Stock Car Races, racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Depart the Waishkey Center at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $6/$8.
-Monday, July 10: Putt-Putt golf. Depart the Waishkey Center at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $3.50 and lunch.
-Wednesday, July 12: Music in the Park with the Gentleman George Band. Depart the Waishkey Center at 6 p.m. Bring a lawn chair.

Community Quilters to meet
The next meeting of the Community Quilters will be on Saturday, July 22 at the Waishkey Center. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend. The group makes quilts to be donated to local emergency service departments, needy individuals in the local community as well as the Bay Mills social services department. They are presently asking for donations of new cotton or flannel fabric, quilt batting, and a usable quilt frame. For more information contact Dotty at 906-437-4313.

Lions Club hosting non-smoking bingo
Each Monday, the Lions Club will be hosting a non-smoking bingo at the Strongs Town Hall on M-28, three miles east of the Eckerman intersection, from 6:30 until 10:30 p.m. The kitchen will be open.

HEALTH NEWS

Elders exercise classes
Class will be held at the Waishkey Center gym each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Men are slated to meet from 8 a.m. to 9 a..m. and women from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Classes will focus on improving circulation, flexibility and strength. and are a great way to meet people. Classes are free and open to the public ages 50 and older.

Adult water exercise
The adult water exercise class will take place at Lake Superior State Unversity each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Transportation is provided with departure from the Waishkey Center gym at 8:15 a.m. Bay Mills elders and spouses can attend the class free of charge; others will be charged $1 each session to attend.

WIC office at Bay Mills
The WIC office will be at the Armella B. Parker Senior Center on the fourth Thursday of each month. Call 635-3572 for an appointment.

Summer Clinics
The following clinics are scheduled for the summer months: Well Woman's Clinics on July 11 and August 22; Well Child Clinics on July 18, July 25, August 1, and August 8; Sports Clinics on July 13, July 20, July 27, August 3, and August 10. All clinics are held at the Bay Mills Health Center and will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wendy Jamros, CFNP, and Craig Caldwell, D.O., will be available. Call 906-248-5527 for an appointment.

Smoking Cessation slated
Call Bay Mills Community Health to enroll at 906-248-5527, next Smoking Cessation Class coming in July.
