Insurance changes impact BMIC employees

      BMIC Employees who have dependents 19 to 26 years of age please note the Special Open Enrollment Period: Nov. 1 to 30, 2010

     Healthcare Reform is making an impact for certain Blue Cross\Blue Shield members as early as this fall. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will impact: Eligible dependents born on\before 12/31/1985;Newly eligible adult dependents whose coverage previously ended; Adult dependents previously denied coverage; Individuals who were not eligible for coverage because their dependent coverage ended before they turned 26; Individuals whose coverage previously ended because they exceeded a lifetime dollar limit under their plan, but are otherwise eligible for coverage.

Also, be sure to attend Special Open Enrollment Information Sessions. Watch for special open enrollment notices with your pay check or check stub.

     Dependents currently covered by the Family Continuation (FC) Rider will be converted to regular dependents, effective Jan 1, 2011. The FC Rider will no longer be available. FC Riders will be converted, automatically.

     Enrollment changes will result in a change in the membership classification of each contract (i.e. Single, 2 Person, or Family coverage). This may result in an increase in premium charged by BC\BS, as well as each employee’s Premium Share Amount.

     All enrollment changes will be effective January 1, 2011.

     Dependent eligibility is no longer limited by: financial dependency, marital status, or school enrollment. For more information contact:
